PILODIST introduces a new QUICKDIST 500 CC as an ultra-fast distillation system or the fully automatic fractionation of stabilized hydrocarbon products.

Specially developed for the separation of hydrocracked or catalyst product samples into their different cuts (for example: Naphtha, Kerosene, Diesel). The unmatched timeframe of less than three hours is achieved in a fully automatic process through different pressure stages similar to ASTM-D2892.

The system is equipped with a distillation column packed with high efficient SULZER EX packing to ensure a proper efficiency also under high throughput conditions. The fully automatic discharge system is optimized with minimum hold-up for a closed mass-balance also with small charges.

The whole process is performed fully automatically (in PILODIST CC-version) from start to the final cut and can operate through 4 pressure stages down to 1 mmHg (Torr) absolute pressure without any user intervention. A quench coil and a special thermostat system reduces the intermediate cooling phases and in combination with a fast heat-up process the runtimes can be reduced to an unique minimum.

The PILODIST 1120 is the world's first fully-automatic system for the determination of the equilibrium boiling point of engine coolants conforming to ASTM D1120 Technical Summary. The system is designed for fully-automatic operation conforming to ASTM D1120 to determine very precise and reproducible the boiling point of engine coolants and brake fluids.

The product is being charged and heated up to the boiling point. The drop rate of the condensed product is being detected and registered by means of an optical sensor. Up to the point when the optimal and pre-selectable drop rate per second is achieved the system will control the heating power by pulse duration modulation.

The system controls the operation until the required equilibrium is stabilized. The temperature of the liquid is being measured by means of of very precise temperature sensor. By using a barometric sensor the boiling point correction is being calculated and presented via Programmed formula. All formulas and parameters are variable in order to follow different applications and test procedures in the same system.

PILODIST 1120 CC can be operated via an integrated touchpanel with different measuring modes to be selected. All parameters are indicated during the measuring process as well as the results. As a special feature there is an additional software available for measurements according to SAE J1704 & J1703 (Option 1). The software provides in the password-protected area the possibility of a 2-point calibration of all sensors.

Heated AIR Bath for Foaming Characteristics of Petroleum Products

The Lawler Foam Testing Air Bathis a four test position heated AIR bath for measuring the foaming tendencies of lubricating oils in the temperature range of +20 to +150°C. The use of heated air to heat the test samples improves the overall safety by eliminating the use of the potentially unsafe, smoking, dripping of, flammable, hot liquid bath medium. Conventional bath fluids darken and require frequent replacement.

Model 323 uses a digital indicating (0.1°C resolution) PID controller for controlling the air temperature in the chamber, with a stability of better than ±0.5°C over the operating range. Novel, sophisticated heating system and control allows the sample to reach test temperature in less than the 60 minutes specified by the method. Long temperature probes are provided for each of the 4 test positions for digital control and test sample temperature display and precise temperature control during the foaming process.

An automated, two channel sequencer automatically starts the air flow after the 5 minutes soak time, after 5 minutes stops the air flow and sounds an alarm, and again sounds an alarm after the 10 minutes settling period (other times are also available).

A touch screen allows the operator selection and full adjustment of all test parameters. All key test parameters are displayed during the test. Also displayed is the time remaining to the next test event requiring operator attention.

Model 323-H is identical to Model 323 with the exception that its temperature range is only 90°C to 150°C. It is suitable for ASTM D892 Sequence II only, and D6082 test methods.

Low-Temperature Viscosity of Lubricants Measured by Brookfield Viscometer

The Lawler liquid baths are programmed such that the sample cooling rate equals the cooling rate experienced by a sample when immersed in the constant low temperature air chamber.

The bath can also be programmed to cool at a rate of 1°C per minute from ambient to as low as -55°C as per CEC-L-18A, ISO 9262, and IP 267 for the measurement of European low temperature Brookfield viscosity.

Operating temperature range of the programmable liquid baths is +20° to -55°C. Temperature control is within ±0.1°C.

Windows based PC proprietary software is capable of controlling two baths simultaneously. This allows operating baths at two independent temperatures with independent start, stop, and duration times.

The bath is an unsilvered Dewar jar holding about 3 liters of bath medium. The illuminated jar allows full visibility of the test samples to facilitate the proper position of the spindle bead immersion level.

This Programmable Liquid Bath is a bench top model has a single bath with 10 sample capacity.

A Windows based PC is required (not supplied). The bath is supplied with an integral leveling viscometer support rod.
