Construction

A robust chemically resistant 316 grade stainless steel cabinet houses all mechanical and electrical components. All clamps and fittings are designed to allow efficient assembly and removal of the glassware. The rear of the cabinet includes an inlet filter designed to remove 99.99% of air laden particles ensuring that the drying air does not include contaminants. A specially designed stainless-steel support stand is available where bench space or height restrictions are a consideration.

Two Channel Nozzle

The 316 stainless steel atomiser consists of an inner tube for the liquid sample leading to a small diameter jet. An outer tube directs the supply of compressed air to the nozzle and the close tolerance gap between the nozzle and the jet ensures a fine vaporized spray. The SD-06 is supplied as standard with 0.5 mm jet, other sizes are available as accessories. The atomiser incorporates an automatic de-blocking device that prevents the jet nozzle from becoming blocked, this is activated by an integral compressor. De-blocking is sometimes necessary with materials which may solidify or when large particles in suspension cause blockages in the jet.

Spray Dryer Control Controls & Functionality

The SD-06 Spray Drier is designed to ensure that all functions are simple to select and adjust to quickly achieve the optimum conditions for spray drying. Using a clear touch screen and LCD display which is protected to IP65, the operator can control the following functions.

The Lawler Automated Pour Point Analyzer fully conforms to method ASTM D97 even to the extent of lifting the test sample from the cold jacket and tilting the sample to test for its flow.

Movement of the sample is detected by a non-contact sensor. If movement is not detected, the test tube is automatically returned to the cold bath and the bath is lowered to the next lower temperature to repeat the test.

All operations are controlled via a touch panel, which displays sample, bath, and the pour point result temperatures.

Cost analysis has shown that the average asphalt producer can pay for the cost of the furnace in as little as 26-32 weeks based on solvent cost-savings alone.

Asphalt Technology

In collaboration with the National Centre for Asphalt Technology, Thermo Scientific developed a fast, accurate, environmentally-friendly, and cost-effective method for determining asphalt content.

For research, quality assurance or quality control, the Thermo Scientific asphalt content furnace is the ideal solution.

A 12-lab round robin field test has been conducted exclusively with the Thermolyne® NCAT asphalt content furnace by NCAT.

Results and proven performance are documented by NCAT. The Thermolyne NCAT asphalt content furnace has set the standard for the industry in the determination of asphalt content by the ignition method.

This system was an integral part of the drafting and eventual passage of the ignition method standard ASTM D6307, as well as AASHTO T308.

The Thermolyne NCAT asphalt content furnace provides asphalt content of bituminous paving mixtures, accurate to 0.11%.

Labplant Refrigerated immersion Probes

Labplant Refrigerated Immersion Probes

LabPlant UK refrigerated immersion probes are extremely simple to operate. The probe is immersed in a suitable liquid, (usually Methanol but others are available), in a Dewar vessel or other well insulated liquid container. The refrigeration system is then switched on.

When using versions with PID controllers, the PT100 sensor is also immersed and the controller set to the required temperature. With all units best temperature stability is achieved if the liquid is stirred (highly recommended).

Labplant offer two versions of refrigerated immersion probe, each unit is available as controlled or uncontrolled.

RP60 & RP100

Basic units with continuous cooling requiring external temperature control.

RP60CD & RP100CD

Controlled units with Digital PID controller and temperature probe; they control temperatures by adjusting the flow of refrigerant to the cooling probe using a solenoid valve.

Both units are available with the choice of probes. Standard flexible, Long flexible & Short rigid.

Other custom manufactured probes are available upon request.
